The Old Bluecoat School now The YMCA International Community Centre Mansfield Road As the tablet on the wall states, (See later photograph) the Bluecoat Charity School was founded in 1706 but this particular building only dates to 1852. The school moved here from it's previous site in Weekday Cross in 1853 and it was re-located again in 1967 to its present site in Aspley Lane. From the tablet I'm also reasonably sure that the architect was Thomas Chambers Hine. © Ray Teece 22-11-2006 NB00257 |
